Preserving Legacy and Tranquility at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Santa Paula

Tucked in the peaceful Santa Clara River Valley, Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery is a longstanding symbol of remembrance, serving the community for more than 100 years. Surrounded by lush orchards and framed by mountain views, the cemetery offers a quiet, respectful space for reflection and honoring loved ones. Since its founding in the late 1800s, it has played an important role in preserving the stories and history of Santa Paula.

Deep Roots in Community and History

The cemetery began with three distinct family sections—Sewell, Fagan, and Mt. Olive—before being officially incorporated as the Santa Paula Cemetery Association in 1903. In 1950, Ed Davis led improvements that unified the cemetery’s layout and introduced endowment care, ensuring long-term maintenance and dignity for all who rest there.

This sacred site also carries historical significance. It is the final resting place for 50 victims of the 1928 St. Francis Dam tragedy, one of California’s most heartbreaking disasters. A special memorial honors those lives lost, and every year, the cemetery places crosses to commemorate their memory.

A Welcoming Space for All Traditions

Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery proudly serves families from across Santa Paula, Fillmore, Ventura, Oxnard, and Saticoy. As a nondenominational burial ground, it respects and welcomes all faiths and cultural practices. Throughout the year, the cemetery holds meaningful community events like Memorial Day services and Día de los Muertos celebrations, giving families space and time to remember their loved ones together.

The grounds are carefully maintained, offering areas like the Our Lady of Guadalupe Garden, which features an intricate 8-foot mosaic and options for both burial and cremation. Another thoughtful feature is the Memory Tree Cremation Garden, designed with a circular community columbarium and granite-front niches, offering both beauty and practicality for families seeking a lasting tribute.

A Lasting Tribute in Santa Paula

Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery is more than a burial ground—it’s a reflection of the community’s enduring values. By blending compassionate care, historical remembrance, and serene landscaping, it provides a peaceful space where legacies are honored and memories live on. Whether visiting for reflection or to participate in a memorial event, this cemetery stands as a timeless piece of Santa Paula’s heart.
